TIM FARRISS | Guitarist, songwriter, singer, producer

Tim was the spark—the hustler, the believer, the guy who saw the future of INXS before anyone else did.
He led from the front—forming early bands, chasing gigs, flyering car windshields, and keeping the dream alive while the others just enjoyed the ride. As Garry Gary Beers put it, Tim was the manager before there was one—the engine behind the band’s first steps.
Born in Perth, he was the first to pick up an instrument, trading a surfboard for a guitar and never looking back. By the time he hit Forest High School, he’d linked up with Kirk Pengilly, tearing through riffs from The Rolling Stones and Deep Purple—laying the groundwork for what was coming.
Onstage, Tim became “The Riff Sheriff,” immortalized by Michael Hutchence during Live Baby Live: “Play the riff, Timmy!” And he did—powering classics like The One Thing, Devil Inside, and Never Tear Us Apart.
His favorite snapshot of INXS? To Look At You—a track that hinted at everything they’d become.
From packed clubs to global stages like Madison Square Garden, sharing moments with icons like Keith Richards and Ray Charles, Tim saw the vision through.

These days, Farriss stays close to music—writing,
